A study using RBF Morph was presented at 12th World Congress of Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimisation (WCSMO12), which held in Braunschweig, Germany from 5 June to 9 June 2017.
Riccado Cenni CAE Engineer of Sacmi Imola presented a work titled Multidisciplinary shape optimization of ductile iron castings by considering local microstructure and material.
In this contribution, recent developments in the multidisciplinary integration of casting process simulation, solidification and microstructure modelling, microstructure-based material characterization, Finite Element Analyses (FEA) with local material behaviour and structural optimization techniques presented and discussed.
The study conducted by Sacmi Imola in collaboration with Jönköping University showed that by adopting a multidisciplinary optimization approach by integration of casting simulation and local material behaviour into shape optimization, the potential of the casting process to obtain components with high performance and reliability can be enabled and utilized.
