In her thesis ‘Aerodynamic optimization of a Formula SAE car using CFD and mesh morphing’ Gaia Marica uses simulation tools like CFD and mesh morphing to perform an optimization in the aerodynamic field.
Abstract
In this project CFD simulations and mesh morphing tools were used to perform an aerodynamic optimization for the Formula SAE competition. Ansys Fluent software and its add-on RBF Morph Fluids have found application in the bodywork’s project for Scuderia Tor Vergata, born from the need to redesign the chassis of the car. The aim of the following project is to design the new bodywork of the car in order to increase the aerodynamic performances with innovative tools for the team, such as mesh morphing and optimization’s workflow.
